We all have grown up on stories narrated to us by our grandparents, parents and other elders in the family during the vacations. However, with the invasion of technology and gadgets in our lives nowadays, the sweetness of storytelling and the delight of listening to stories is missing.
So this summer, let’s go back to the roots!
Kathamala, a garland of stories
Children are inherently carefree, loving and fearless. Vivid imagination and weaving stories is their second nature. Allow your kids to be happy and free and enjoy stories about Prakriti – Nature, activities, art, music, fun, play, mindfulness & learning.
What happens to kids when they listen to stories?
Through stories, little minds create a new world with their imaginations, carving images and drawing out characters.
Tell children a story and they listen with their whole being.
Lead children to touch and understand a grasshopper, a rock, a flower, a ray of sunlight, and they begin to establish connections with their surroundings.
Scientists have found that children who have fiction read to them regularly find it easier to understand other people – they show more empathy and have better-developed theory of mind (the ability to understand that other people have different thoughts and feelings to us, which is essential for understanding and predicting other people’s thoughts and behaviour).
What will kids do in the storytelling sessions?
Each story has been conceived by a panel of experts in the field of both Academics and Arts. The stories are part of the Story Lab, Kathalaya, experimented in activity centers and schools over the past 17 years.During this one week, through the medium of stories and craft, art and voice, music and affirmations, mindfulness and learning, the intention is to sow the seeds of Gratitude and Care for the Earth and other people, in the minds and hearts of children.
